The Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) is situated at Allahabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh and is at a distance of approximately 636 Kms, South East of New Delhi. Allahabad has been an important centre of culture, education and learning. The city boasts of having the most prestigious Educational Institutes like Allahabad University, which was referred as the Oxford of the East, the National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Harish Chandra Research Institute for Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (under Department of Atomic Energy), the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences and many more. The city is well connected by rail, road and air network with other parts of the country. The nearest airport is Bamrauli airport, which is at a distance of approximately 2.2 Km from CATC.
CATC, is located at a distance of 10 km west of Allahabad Railway Station in a suburb called Bamrauli. The Institute along with its hostel complex and residential colony is spread over a sprawling campus of 114 acres with scenic greenery all around. CATC has a beautiful architecture with fountains, gardens and playgrounds along with a World class building infrastructure.
In order to cater to the increased man power requirements, CATC has two extensions, first,as National Institute of Aviation Training and Management (NIATAM) at Gondia in Maharashtra and second, as Hyderabad Training Centre at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, which are providing training courses for air traffic control officers (ATCO’s). The training is being imparted to the newly recruited ATCO’s, by way of traditional method which is best known as Procedural Air Traffic Control. Apart from this, other advance courses are also conducted for skill enhancement of ATS personnel in these training centers. As far as addressing the increased demand of ATSEPs is concerned, the Regional Training Centers at the four metros, viz. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata have been established which cater to the specialized training requirement on the CNS equipment/facilities, in coordination with CATC.
